Making a positive change...

What's it mean when I pass my teaching colleagues in the hall and as our eyes meet, we seem to concurrently sigh, widen our eyes, and look stricken?

This seems to be happening more and more. It's only mid-January. How is it we're all so spent already? We had Monday off for God's sake.

My pledge... greet my colleagues with an air of positive expectation. I'll "ACT as if"... and the rest will come, right?

Thanks for looking at things as half-full. I'm so tired of hearing people say, "Well, only __ days until Feb. vacation." Can't we just be happy with what we have and the kids we're teaching?

I hear you in this one Mrs. Ris... as spent as I am each day, the burn out burns you faster when EVERYONE around you starts to feel it, and it only gets worse when your students start catching on to the fact that you're rolling your eyes to clue off other teachers in the hall. I am certainly one of the guilty ones though, so I think I'll try to take your advise. I need to try to stay more positive too. Thanks a lot- jill.
